2- 50 years of "One Hundred Years of Solitude"are commemorated with three murals in the Central Hall of the National Library of Colombia

The Ministry of Culture, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá, the Embassy of the United States in Colombia, the Colombo Americano Center and the National Library of Colombia, worked together to bring two great representatives of urban art in Colombia and the United States: Gaia and Guache.
As part of this initiative, the urban artists Gaia and Guache, painted three walls on the central hall of the National Library of Colombia, in the framework of the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of One Hundred Years of Solitude, written by  Literature Nobel Prize: Gabriel García Márquez.

4- Tierra de/ por medio exhibition

This exhibition is a perspective of the land ownership history in Colombia: a phenomena having harshly affected territories, communities and the country's history. It shows how ideals inherited from the independence struggle against the banana republics' corruption .

7- Exhibition : " La naturaleza de las cosas"

2- Talk: The economic impact of Independence from Bourbon reforms to liberal reforms By José Antonio Ocampo Gaviria

The mother is a universal archetype, a social leader from antiquity until today. In this thematic circuit  the Gold Museum and the Miguel Urrutia Art Museum - MAMU will make us reflect about the images and knowledge of motherhood and birth.

We will visit in the Gold Museum the temporary exhibition Midwifery, ancestral knowledge and live practice, and in the MAMU we will learn the multiple artists' views of mother and motherhood in the museum permanent collection.

The harpist Anneleen Lenaerts, one of the few women who has been able to join the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, will perform at the next concert of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra.

Lenaerts combines her position in the Vienna Philharmonic with an intense concert schedule taking her all over the world. She will perform the Concerto for Harp in G major by Italian composer Nino Rota known for his music for Federico Fellini's films, as others of wide remembrance as El padrino and La dolce vita.

On November 24th, 2016, at the Teatro Colón, the "Final Agreement for ending the Conflict and building a Stable and Lasting Peace" was signed, between the government of President Juan Manuel Santos and the FARC commander. Aurora Editions invited fifteen intellectuals, men and women of recognized academic prestige and from different disciplines, so that, based on their specialty, they could analyze for the readers the Agreement essence, regarding the effects of its application or not in public policies to end Colombian violence.

5- Exhibition opening: Herencia Futura> El Nuevo Normal

At the end of 2016, Colombian government and guerrilla group FARC-EP signed the peace agreement, trying to end an internal conflict of more than 50 years.  Despite the comings and goings of this agreement, no one can deny that in a certain way, the agreement is a milestone in the history of the country.

After the signing of the Peace Agreement, the Habanero Institute emerged, and focuses its research on how Colombia will be like, in the future. Within this research phase, the Habanero Institute exhibition called "Future Inheritance" -> " New Normality" seeks to influence Colombia's collective imagination in this new phase through the construction of new everyday symbols and thus stimulate a conscious act of memory.

1- "Yo soy normal" Talk about how the so called "normality" faces diversity,  by Alberto Gómez Mancilla (professional in Psychiatry and Mental Health)

This conference is hold to reflect on the concept of "normality". In support of the cultural project Colombia a diverse nation, the BLAA starts an innovative proposal in the framework of its inclusion project; it is about generating reflection and motivating reading about diversity from the academic point of view. Colombia, a diverse country: is the second richest country in species of the world, and it recognizes a cultural and ethnic diversity, disabilities and minorities. However, for humans everything that is not equal to "me", can pass for "not normal "due to "my" concepts.


"Normality" can be defined by following norms or what is in its natural state. In a general point of view, "normality" makes reference to what adjusts to average values. Therefore, when we understand ourselves as "I am normal", we discard the other, being this the starting point of discrimination.

Ulianov Charlarka (1938-1977) was a multifaceted artist who accompanied the sociologist Orlando Fals Borda in his research on land ownership in the Colombian Caribbean Region. In this conference the curator Cristo Hoyos will talk about his life and work and the role he played in the development of  the 'Participatory Action Research'.
