During the Week of Colombian Indigenous People, the National Library of Colombia will host the screening of documentary: Pirá-Paraná, and a talk with José Navia Lame about the struggles of Quintín Lame.
Pirá - Paraná is a 1960's documentary made by anthropologist Brian Moser, who follows the footsteps of the Makuna indigenous communities inhabiting the Pirá-Paraná river, to show their incredible way of life and rituals.

In 2015, Popo Fan filed a lawsuit against the Censorship Department of the Chinese government for removing its documentary Mama Rainbow (2012) from the web; even if he won this legal action, that has not yet allowed him to freely show his work in China. In a similar legal dispute, in Colombia there is currently the lawyer Matilda González, one of the main figures of the LGTBI community in Colombia, recognized for her activism in the written press and social networks, and who until a few months ago was an essential part of La Prohibida, a YouTube channel published by El Espectador, and removed recently from the internet. This talk aims to question the role that members of the LGTBI community have played in and for the media, and the factors that affect and even regulate the production of content and new representations from the same community.

As part of this initiative, the urban artists Gaia and Guache, painted three walls on the central hall of the National Library of Colombia, in the framework of the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of One Hundred Years of Solitude, written by Literature Nobel Prize: Gabriel García Márquez.

The art-works selected for this exhibition, belong to the Banco de la Republica Art Collection and are articulated around three axes - Our America, Heroes, and Emblems‒ which reminds the role of art on building a national imaginary and the role of artists in Colombia, as a critical political actor and an observer of Independence utopian ideals, 200 years ago.

Between 1810 and 1819, hundreds of women were part of the fight for Colombian Independence. Some were part by ideological affinity with their parents, brothers or husbands; others joined the fight because injustices committed against people in general.
The Mayor's Office of Bogotá opens on August 2, this exhibition, tribute to seventeen women unknown, but also key actors of Colombian Independence.

In the Andean worldview, women and the land are strongly interrelated. Both the woman's body and the earth are life givers. In a current context of agriculture industrialization based on using chemical pesticides and GMOs, women assume the role of land protectors. This film shows the daily struggle of five women from the Peruvian Andes, to keep a traditional and organic way to cultivate the land.
